Lauren Fraser

HORSE BEHAVIOR CONSULTANT

Lauren is passionate about helping people better understand their own horse, and resolving horse behavior problems.

Lauren is a Certified Horse Behavior Consultant with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. She is also Chair for the organization’s horse division, is a member of the application review committee, and a mentor for the IAABC ‘Principles & Practice’ course.

Lauren has worked professionally with horses since 2006 and is passionate about helping people solve horse behavior and training problems. Such issues may occur under saddle, or during handling or management, and can include: bucking, rearing, biting, spooking, cribbing, bolting, weaving, pulling back, ‘herd-bound’ behavior, refusing to trailer load, phobias (e.g. needles, vet, farrier), aggression etc.

Horse behavior and how horses learn are well-studied sciences, no different from any of the other sciences that help owners and trainers understand what makes horses ‘tick’. Horse behavior consultants study and use this behavioral science to help horse owners solve unwanted behavior problems, in ways that are not only effective and low-stress, but which also strengthen the trust between horse and human.

Lauren is gifted at translating the science of horse behavior and learning into more easily understood information. She presents courses and workshops for both horse owners and equine professionals and has written for various publications.

Lauren enjoys the pursuit of knowledge and attends equine clinics and conferences throughout the year. When not working, Lauren can be found training her own horses. Her areas of training interest are eclectic and include young horse training, classical dressage, cowboy mounted shooting and the California-style traditions of bridle horse development.
